Hey all! Is there a way I can turn off my laptop screen while still using the laptop? Thank you.

No, I don't think this is possible.

If there is a way it would be good. I could go to lectures and when they are boring i could pretend that i take notes but i could play games instead lol.

Actually, there is but it really depends on what laptop you have. You will need to consult the manual but usually it is holding the function key down and then some other key. The function key is usually the one all the way on the left or the next one in. Don't know if all laptops have this but some do and people usually use this to save the battery especially if they are jaws users.

Willie, do you think there is a way I can figure out what my function key does via my system? Like a search through a help file or something? Thanks

Ok, y'all! I sort of figured it out. I have a list now of what my function key does and I know how to dim and brighten my screen. So, I can just really dim it...lol. Works well enough.

Excellent. there really should be one to actually turn off the screen but dimming it out will definately help. Fantastic.....

You just gave me the idea of re-trying to look for the function keystrokes to do this and I've done it. After two years with the laptop I've finally got it. What a Plum! thanks yall, laters.

On my Dell E1405 laptop, you press the function key and then down arrow to dim the screen and function and up arrow to make it brighter. The function key appears as FN to sited people.

You can have a sighted person look for you at what icons are on the keys that indicate what they will do with the fn key. I haven't had assistance with this compaq evo laptop, but i plan to.l

o I have a inspiron 1150 and your function key is right next to your control key. Holding this down and hitting up and down arrow will brighten and dim your screen.
